About Homelighting

Who is Homelighting?

Homelighting is a Greek company from Veria, in the north of Greece. Panagiotis Chatzipantos founded a company there in 1986 that made and sold lights; Home Lighting was later added as a wholesaler. The company has a distribution centre and warehouse of 3,000 m² and supplies a long list of countries, including Belgium and the Netherlands. According to Homelighting, all its lights comply with the European CE requirements and there is a two-year guarantee on the electrical components.

Homelighting carries several brands: Homelighting Collection, Homelighting Exclusive, Homelighting Economy and Masterlighting for architectural linear lighting. The latter has its own brand page on our site. One thing you should know before you choose: Homelighting is not a design studio with a distinctive signature, but a wholesaler with a very broad range. Its strength lies in choice and price, not in a recognisable design line.

What is Homelighting strong in?

Pendant lights. Of the approximately 1,600 Homelighting lights we stock, around 950 are pendant lights and over 300 are wall lights; ceiling lights, spotlights, tracks and LED strips make up the rest. Three out of four pendant lights have an E27 lamp base.

  • Industrial. About a quarter of the range is industrial: metal shades, cages, bronze and rust, fabric cables.
  • Dark metal colours. Black appears on more than half of the lights, followed by grey, gold and bronze. White is more the exception here.
  • Mid-range prices. Half of the pendant lights cost less than €140; between €200 and €400 there is plenty of choice, above that little.
  • Large LED pendants such as Amaya, with built-in LED, some in a version with a remote control for the colour temperature.

How does the Adept system work?

With almost 470 versions, Adept is the largest Homelighting line we stock, and it is more a building system than a single light. The base is a pendant with a black cable and an E27 lamp base. Homelighting combines shades with it: fabric in white, grey or brown, black metal shades, metal cages, smoked glass or white glass. These shades are also available separately. The same components come back in wall lights, table lamps and floor lamps.

The code tells you which combination you are looking at. In Adept SE21-BL-B10-BL1W-SH1, BL stands for a black fixture, and the last part for the shade: SH1 is a white fabric shade, SH2 grey, SH3 brown, MS a metal shade, GR a cage and GL glass. Other fixture finishes are NM (matt nickel), GM (matt gold) and BR (bronze). The number of light points and the dimensions are given in the specifications.

What should you look out for with Homelighting?

The bulb is almost never included. With the lights that have a lamp base, you buy the fixture; you choose the light source yourself. The product page shows the lamp base and the number of light points, and therefore how many bulbs you need. How to recognise a lamp base is explained in lamp bases explained.

The height of a pendant light includes the cable. Homelighting states the height of pendants with the full cable included, 300 cm for many models. That is the maximum drop, not the size of the light itself. How low a light should hang above a table is explained in pendant light above the dining table.

With LED lights: check the colour temperature. Some of the LED lights have one fixed colour temperature (usually 3000 K), others have three settings (3000, 4000 and 6500 K) that you select with the switch. In a living room you usually want the warmest setting; see choosing a colour temperature.

Frequently asked questions

Is Homelighting a manufacturer?

Homelighting started in 1986 by making and selling lights and today is mainly a wholesaler with brands such as Homelighting Exclusive and Masterlighting. The company is based in Veria, Greece.

What guarantee applies to Homelighting lights?

Homelighting states a two-year guarantee on the electrical components. For some of the LED lights, such as the Amaya line, the manufacturer states five years.

Can I fit a different shade to an Adept pendant light later?

Homelighting also supplies Adept shades separately: fabric shades, metal cages and glass. Whether a shade fits your version depends on the fixture; ask us before you order.

Does Homelighting also make outdoor lighting?

Not much: about ten outdoor lights in our range. For outdoors you will find more choice from Lucide, Nordlux and Trio Lighting.
