Who is Nordlux?

Nordlux was founded in 1977 in Aalborg, in the north of Denmark, and still has its head office there. According to the company, its aim has always remained the same: good lighting at an attractive price. The lights are sold in more than 50 countries, through more than 5,000 points of sale. Besides Nordlux itself, the group has two other brands: Design For The People for design lights and Energetic for LED bulbs.

What is Nordlux strong in?

Simple, well-finished lights in Scandinavian style. Of the some 260 Nordlux lights we stock, over 110 are pendant lights, around fifty wall lights, over 30 table lamps, around twenty floor lamps and almost 30 outdoor lights.

• White, black and grey, often combined with walnut, leather or opal glass. The Strap pendant light hangs from a leather strap, and the Nori and the Pure combine metal with walnut.
• Small pendant lights with E27. Three quarters of the pendant lights have an E27 lamp base, and many shades are between 18 and 30 cm wide.
• Adjustable GU10 wall lights, such as Mib and Angle, which you turn towards a chair, a painting or the ceiling.
• Outdoor lights in galvanised steel and copper, with IP23 to IP67.

Half of the Nordlux lights we stock cost less than €190; the most expensive are around €670.

How do you choose a small Nordlux pendant light?

A pendant light 20 cm wide with one E27 bulb mainly lights what is directly below it. Above a 180 cm dining table, one such light is too little; hang two or three in a row, with some 50 to 70 cm between the centres of the shades, or choose a wider model. Above a kitchen island or next to an armchair, a single small shade works well. With a closed metal shade, choose the light according to the effect you want: an opal glass globe such as the Cafe gives light all around, a conical shade such as Nori or Ellen directs it downwards. See lamp bases explained for the right bulb in an E27 or GU10 lamp base.

What does the Nordlux guarantee cover?

Nordlux has two guarantees of its own on top of the statutory rules, both for lights bought in the European Union and only with the original proof of purchase:

• 5 years on built-in LEDs. The LED modules in lights with integrated LED must keep working for five years. Separate LED bulbs and drivers are not covered.
• 15 years on outdoor lights made of galvanised steel, copper, corten steel or brass, and on outdoor lights with paint suitable for the seaside. This guarantee covers the surface: rust that makes holes in the metal, or paint that flakes, cracks or peels. Discolouration from the sun is not covered, nor are components such as a sensor or LED module. The lights with this guarantee carry a 15-year seal on the packaging.

For a façade by the sea or a garden post that stays outside year in, year out, that second guarantee is a real reason to choose galvanised steel or copper.
