Right of withdrawal: withdraw from your order within 14 days

Last updated 10 October 2026

Short answer

You may withdraw from an order within 14 days of receiving the (last) parcel, without giving a reason. You let us know with the “Withdraw from contract here” button, with the model form or with a message of your own, and send the product back within 14 days after that. The direct cost of returning it is yours. We refund the purchase price and the standard shipping costs within 14 days of your notification, using the same means of payment.

How much time do you have to withdraw?

You have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The law requires at least 14 days.

The withdrawal period expires 14 days after the day on which you, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you, acquire physical possession of the product. If your order arrives in several parcels, the period only starts on the day you receive the last parcel. You may also withdraw before your parcel arrives.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your notification before the withdrawal period has expired.

How do you withdraw from your order?

You inform us of your decision by an unequivocal statement. You can do this in three ways:

  1. With the “Withdraw from contract here” button, which you will find at the bottom of every page of the shop and in your order confirmation. You enter your name, your order number (and which products you are withdrawing from) and the email address for the confirmation, and you confirm with “Confirm withdrawal”. We immediately send you an acknowledgement of receipt by email with the content of your withdrawal and the date and time at which you sent it.
  2. With the model form below, by email to franky@nodarkness.be or by post to Anjelierenlaan 29, 8900 Ieper, België.
  3. With a message of your own by email or by post, clearly stating that you are withdrawing from the contract. A form is not compulsory.

Keep your proof of sending or the acknowledgement of receipt: should it ever be needed, you must be able to show that you withdrew.

Within what period do you send the product back?

You send the product back without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you informed us of your withdrawal. The deadline is met if you send the parcel before the period of 14 days has expired. After your notification we send you the return address and the instructions; for some products this is the manufacturer’s warehouse rather than our address. How best to pack and send it is explained on the returns page.

Who pays the cost of returning?

The direct cost of returning is yours. If a product cannot be returned by post as a normal parcel because of its dimensions or weight, we state before you order roughly how much returning it will cost.

If you return a product because it is defective, arrived damaged or because we sent you the wrong item, that is not a withdrawal but a guarantee matter: we then pay all costs. See guarantee and complaints.

What do you get back, and when?

If you withdraw from the contract, you will receive all payments you have made up to that point, including the costs of delivery (with the exception of any supplementary costs resulting from your choice of a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us), without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which we received your decision to withdraw. We refund you using the same means of payment as you used, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of that refund.

We may withhold the refund until we have received the product back, or until you have supplied evidence of having sent it back, whichever is the earliest.

If you paid (partly) with a gift card, we put that part back on the card.

May you try the product out?

You may handle the product as you would in a shop: unpack it, look at it, check the dimensions and the finish, try a bulb in a lamp holder. You are only liable for any diminished value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the product.

With lighting, that means in practice: if you have mounted a light fitting permanently on a wall or ceiling, shortened cables, drilled holes in a component, or there are signs of use or installation, we may charge for the diminished value. The original packaging is not a condition for withdrawal, but do pack the product securely so that it arrives intact.

When do you have no right of withdrawal?

The right of withdrawal does not apply to products made to your specifications or clearly personalised for you, for example an LED strip that we cut to the length you requested, or a light fitting that the manufacturer makes for you in a special size or colour. We state this before you order if a product falls into this category.

For an ordinary product that we order specially for you from the manufacturer, you can still withdraw as normal.

If you buy as a professional through No Darkness Pro, the right of withdrawal does not apply; see the terms for professionals.

Frequently asked questions

Can I withdraw from only part of my order?

Yes. You withdraw per product. State in your notification which products you are sending back; you then get the amount for those products back.

What if I have already installed the lamp?

You may still withdraw. We may only charge for the diminished value caused by the installation, for example if the light fitting shows signs of installation or the cable has been shortened. If you are unsure whether something will fit, do not install it yet and ask first.

I sent my withdrawal on day 14. Am I in time?

Yes. What counts is that you send your notification before the period expires, not when we read it.

Do I also get the shipping costs back?

Yes, the cost of the cheapest standard delivery we offer. If you chose a more expensive delivery method, we do not refund the difference. You pay the cost of sending the product back to us yourself.

Why do I have to notify you first instead of sending it straight back?

Because the return address can differ per product. Some of our products ship directly from the manufacturer’s warehouse, and then the return may also go there. After your notification you receive the correct address, so that your parcel does not get stuck along the way.
